UAPB women’s hoops pulls the upset against Arkansas

The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff women’s basketball team has pulled off their second upset in their last three contest, with a 74-70 takedown of Arkansas.

The game started as a hotly contested matchup, with both h teams taking their turns out in front. Neither team had their shooting eye , with UAPB connecting on just 5-26 from the floor and Arkansas wasn’t much better shooting 23.5% (4-17), with three of those field goals coming from Taliah Scott , who scored 12 of the Razorbacks’ 14 points in the frame.

Arkansas outscored the Lions 27-18 in the second quarter, which was another poor shooting for UAPB in which they shot 6-17 (35.29%) , while the Razorbacks connected on 69.23% (9-13) ,and would find themselves on the wrong end of a 42-32 halftime score.

The third quarter would see a reversal of fortune , with the Lions finding an offensive rhythm, knocking down down 1a-20, including 4-7 from downtown to trim the deficit to 61-60 heading into the fourth quarter.

UAPB was able to limite the Razorbacks to just 9 points in the game’s final frame, including forcing 1-11 to close out the contest.

Zaay Green lead the way for the Lions with 22 points and 9 rebounds; Coriah Beck with 15 points and Demetria Shepherd with 12 points were the other Lions in double figures.

Taliah Scott led Arkansas with 31 points.

Up next for UAPB (4-7, 0-0) is a matchup with another SEC team, this time the Rebels of Ole Miss.
